Post subject:  anyone have home automation opinions

Hello all, just trolling for information.

I am moving into a new house in a few months and I'm rethinking all of my technology. I just signed up for vonage in my exising house as a trial (so far so good).

New house is an antique 1776 farmhouse that I am assume has very little in he line of cat5 wiring.

Here are some questions, please chime in with any experiences/opinions

has any one use Pluto or Misterhouse or a similar package?
Asterix?
any computer based X10 (or similar) controls
any of the above integrate with IP or USB cameras?

Any good or bad stories appricated

Beware Vonage doesn't have 911 service.

Motorola also recently got into "Home monitoring kits". There are some interesting choices here. This is all part of "Seamless Mobility".

As for Vonage, I have 2 phone lines and 1 FAX line from Vonage. And I should say both the quality of the service and customer service is excellent. I have since recommended it to many of my friends to save $$.

There is 911 support.
Since the vonage phone adaptor can be installed anywhere where you have broadband connection, they recommend you register your address for 911. Only if you register they can route your 911 call to the right center. If you don't register they keep sending you reminders. This is not an issue at all.
