Hi All
Just seen this on the haupage PVR 500 page:

Note: when using the WinTV-PVR-500MCE with WindowsXP, you need a third party TV application such as MythTV, SageTV or BeyondTV

So no mention of Linux then!! :D

No, its in the right thread. When they release the windows open source license for qt, it will be much easier to port mythtv to windows. All of the developers interested it doing such a port are waiting until then.

I htink it will take Mythtv main stream as the windows media cemter is not well thought out at all.
I'm caught up in the fact iI would like it to pull Linux into the users living room, but then again if it's another open source system thats beats the compition like Firefox this can only be good for the whole Open Source community.

Just my 2 p's worth ( cents in the USA)

Bob

problem is can you get the stability and reliability you need for a tv application on winXP? If not it will just make mythtv look bad.

Windows XP is very stable compared to windows 98. Its fine as long as you don't mess with it. That is no hard shutdowns and such. I see one big advantage to having mythtv on windows. Thats drivers. How great it would be if you could install your PVR-350 and it just works using the drivers disk. It would sure beat searching for the fixes for the latest change from Hauppauge. The disadvantage of course is cost and its closed source.
