Can anyone tell me the differences between MythTV and Freevo?
What are the pros and cons of using each setup?

Is Freevo tend to be easier to install and have less problems with different hardware setups?

I am wanting to build my first PVR, and I want to start easy.
Any information would be appreciated....

Thanks.

The hardware you use has absolutely nothing to do with the function on the pvr program you choose. Once the hardware works with the correct drivers(ivtv, bttv) that's what is important.

As for Mythtv vs. Freevo? Personal prefference is all there is to answer that.

Does that mean that with Freevo you also can't watch an in-progress recording? For me that's one of the great MythTV features.

Before I started using MythTV, I looked at Freevo... At the time MythTV was more capable. From looking at the Freevo site, MythTV is still more capable. It cannot get much easier than KnoppMyth. Search the forum, get hardware that is recommend, boot from CD, install and enjoy.
