Is it just me or does the search function in phpbb suck?

People get pissy when you post questions that have already been answered on this forum, but there have been too many times when I have tried to search using keywords that should come up, but I get nothing or the wrong thing.

Grrr!

yes it's a known fact and much griped about phpbb made a design decision not to have a full text search, which makes since for various reasons. However I've found that the search is still quite functional as long as you make sure to check the use all words radio button. Why this is not the default I have no idea, and Think is a HUGE failing of the phpbb developers. I have to think very hard to find a situation where I would want search for any words.

Hi,
I have noticed the using the all words as Xsecrets mention is the better choice too.

And also it doesn't seem to cost anything extra to use different words, or change the sequence of your search words and try again! My father use to say that only a lousy carpenter complains about his hammer. :)

Heh.

Maybe so, but a good carpenter knows when to get a new one.

Hi,
It may take a few tries but all in all the search does work and I usually find something that points me toward a hint or a suggestion.

Besides, I like my dad's old hammer, but I'm not a very good carpenter. :(
May you have a good day
Mike
