Post subject:  cell WAP Gateway and mythweb/wml questions

I would like to setup my home computer to be a WAP gateway for my cell phone. (rather than pay verizon $5.00 a month or whatever). I would rather use a linux program, but would use a windows one. My ultimate goal would be to have my cell phone connect to the internet using my home PC's internet connection. The next step is to learn wml so that I can modify or re-write the mythweb wml so that I can schedule recordings (probably start with doing a manual schedule) from my OpenWave WAP browser on my cell phone.
I haven't tried for a long time, but I couldn't get my cell phone nor a Wap browser emulator to bring up the mythweb wap page. From the forum postings at the time, this didn't work.
Does anyone have experience or played with this before?

seems like there was discussion a while back about a plugin that allowed some sort of control via cell phone/pda.

ahh here it is. not sure if it's exactly what you are wanting, and it is on an older version, so not sure if it still works, but here's the link anyways.

Yeah I saw that one. It is basically just for remote control. I often remember a program I want to record when I am away from home. I want to be able to connect into my mythweb via the openwave browser on my cell phone and schedule a recording. If I can't find a good WAP gateway server program I may just pay for it and work on the wml side.

I have it working, but there's a bug in the script that shows your recording schedule. But I can browse listings ok.

If you're coming from outside (you aren't) then you'd need to forward port 80 through the router. But with your setup (mine is the same), the WAP gateway is on the local net, and so you just use the IP addr of the myth box.
Then you get into mythweb, sign in with your mythweb userid/password, just as if you were using a bbrowser on your desktop.
I'm using it on my vz LG VX7000

I am going to look into the listing script and try to fix.

I am also going to try to get Kaennel to work, so that I can run the WAP gateay ON the Myth Box. This would simplify my life a bit.

Looks promising, but it's got the look of an abandoned project.
