Hi All,

I was wondering if the Nokia Internet Tablet 770 will integrate with MythTV/KnoppMyth over a home LAN? I don't own a Nokia 770, but I was wondering if the following would be possible with the Nokia 770?

(1) Use the web browser on the Nokia 770 to view the program guide

(2) Schedule a recording using MythWeb on the Nokia 770

(3) Use MythBurn via MythWeb on the Nokia 770

(4) Stream recorded showsing using MythStreamTV on the Nokia 770 (i.e., does this device contain a movie player?)

(5) Browse a file manager on the Nokia 770 to browse the KnoppMyth contents using either NFS or SAMBA shares

(6) Use the command line on the Nokia 770 to execute ssh commands to the KnoppMyth box

If the 770 supports all the above, I see no reason why not.

Thanks cesman,

The ones I am unsure about are the movie streaming. The articles I have read have not specified the capabilities of the movie player (if any) that is on this little device.

The other one that I am unsure about is the file browsing either through nfs or samba, which would be really handy for accessing /myth/music directory.

I like the idea of using this device anywhere around the house to browse the web, get email, see what on TV, listen to Mythmusic and watching recorded shows.

Regards,

Dr. Hood

Okay, a bit more information for a mobile device that will leverage the capabilities of KnoppMyth (from anywhere around the house!, hehe).

From the Nokia's website, the Internet Tablet 770 supports MPEG1, MPEG4, Real Video, H.263, AVI, 3GP for video.

Thus, on paper and with the default software, it does NOT appear that streaming MPEG-2 files with MythStreamTV will work.

An interesting discussion regarding the Nokia's 770 video playback can be found at InternetTableTalk.

An alternative to the Nokia 770 is the higher priced Pepper Pad, a recent review of which can be found at MobilTechReview.

Regards,
