Post subject:  Posting Problems

When I try posting, either a reply or new message, I get a web page (title bar reads: "Invalid Syntax"), the URL reads http:///, and the following test appears:

Quote:
The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for might have been removed or had its name changed.

Please try the following:

Open the home page, and then look for links to the information you want.

If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.

If you still cannot open the page, click the Internet Explorer
Search button to look for similar sites.

Internet Explorer

Previewing the post works fine, the error appears just when Submitting.

Is this a website problem or a browser problem?

I'm guessing you are talking about here on the forums?

I haven't had any problems. I use konqueror under linux.

My big question would be how did you post this topic?

Post subject:  Yup...

Posting in these forums was the problem. How did I post? Using WinXP (my normal OS) and IE 6 I simply typed it in and clicked "Submit". It doesn't matter if I try Preview first (which works without an error). Whenever I click Submit I get that error message and page. When I'd posted the topic I got that message, but went back to the forum section page and did a refresh. I could see that the topic had been posted successfully at that point despite the error.

Now, I've submitted this message on my work machine. It appears to work okay and I don't get the error message/page. It just occurs on my home machine. Both machines are loaded with McAfee anti-virus, Spybot, etc., and I use a pop-up blocker called Pop-Up Cop. I tried disabling Pop-Up Cop but that doesn't change the error.

I guess the problem's in my home machine, but I'll be dipped if I know where to look for it. I guess I'll have to do a purge with all the spyware utils and go from there...thanks for the response.

I can confirm there are no popups other than new pm messages if you have your preferences so configured, so a popup blocker is not the issue. My first guess would have been an overzealous adblock list, but you are on ie6. other than that I don't really know what to tell you.
