I ordered the things I described here (Pundit & PVR350)

When I read "The Pamphlet of KnoppMyth" I still have some (silly) questions.

Let's say I plug my TFT via DVI to the Pundit during installation, I still have to choose tv, right... for future usage? And it will configure my Pundit's TV out, not my PVR350's TV out, right?

How can it destroy the TV? Doesn't care the TV out about this issue?

The use of tv as a boot option when installing is for those people that wish to install using *only* a TV (no monitor). I think all it does is limit the resolutions available to X in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 to 800x600 and 640x480. It may also set the HorizSync and VertRefresh timings.

You can always change the /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file after you have installed with the monitor, so using the tv option is not required if you do not want to use a tv straight away.

Everyone talks about the possibility of blowing TVs up using the wrong timings, but I would be amazed if it could actually happen to a modern tv. I never bothered checking anything like that for my myth box. Still, I guess it was possible that I could have ended up being one amazed looking sorry SOB if I'd blown up my TV. If your TV is truly 100 Hz, I don't think you need to worry. (You know PAL is only 50 fields / sec right?)

When you use a remote on linux, it is like using a keyboard. It controls myth (or more correctly passes key presses to myth), not the tv card. I heard tjc say once that the the question you asked is like asking "can I control two hard disks with one keyboard?"

I'm not sure if the tv option even affects anything in X at all. the big thing it does is set vga=normal when booting from the cd which many tv's require.
