...one related question: how can I export an xsession to my winbox and see the x-desktop without seeing mythfrontend?

I think the best option is VNC - look on the Wiki - you can a Remote Desktop style thing.

Man.. just did a clean install of r5a15.1 and now when I do a

Code:
$ mythfrontend

I get:

mythfrontend: cannot connect to X server

Everything is fine on the win32 end I think (I didn't change anything). Is there something on the mythbox I need to enable?

Perhaps a search... You should find a recent discussion.. The last guy with this problem turned out to have multiple network IFs with different adresses and the X authentication didn't like the resulting mix and match.

@tjc: thanks for the suggestion, I tried several searches but came-up empty handed. Can you post the url to the thread you're thinking about?

Thanks :)

I figured it out!

Here's what I did:

X11 Forwarding wasn't enabled on the mythtv side. I fixed it by editing /etc/ssh/sshd_config and changed "X11Forwarding no" to "X11Forwarding yes" followed by a restart of ssh (/etc/init.d/ssh restart).

Then the usual $ mythfrontend --geometry 800x600 launched the app on my win32 box.
