I am using R5A16, everything installs and setup looks ok until I reach the input connections screen. That screen is empty, it shows nothing. Pressing enter in it just finishes the config and starts myth further.
I have tried editing the channels before going into the input selections but that does not help (I can add channels manually but nothing shows up afterwards, the auto scan is greyed out).
I am using a P4 3Ghz, pcHD 3000 jetway, pm800bms motherboard, ati 9200se, 512mb. I tried both the 586 and 686 binary choice at the start of the install. I add the card with default settings to the capture card settings and use data direct for video source.
I have never setup the pcHD 3000 card before that I am using, its brand new so I am not sure its working or broken. What can be wrong? Is it the card? Is there a way to verify the pcHD card is really working? If I boot under Windows it shows me amedia card.

have you setup a video source? you have to setup a video source then associate it in input connections then you will be able to scan for channels under the channel editor.

I used datadirect under the video source. It seems to work as it gets the settings from the website locally. As I read the instructions ( http://www.mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO-9.html) it looked like after adding the capture card and adding the video source I would be able to "assign" the different inputs of the pcHD 3000 card to the video source (ie assign antenna input to the datadirect video source.
Thats currently not possible the input connections screen is totally empty.
The scan option on the channel page is greyed out.

sounds like you haven't setup the card yet. you know #2 before even the video source. and if you use dvb which are the drivers installed by default for the 3000 there is only one thing in input connections.

I used the pcHD 2000 / 3000 selection with the default setting. The entire setup looks pretty starightforward. I checked after the creation if the addition was still there (ie I went into the capture card section again) and it was. Is there something I have to do special to activate that setting? I tried with the antenna connected and disconnected to the card (the entire install & setup) but both procedures did not work.
It sounds like I am using the correct approach and I think the card I have might be faulty (just bought it at the myth tv store, its not a used card so its difficult to believe but possible).

Ok, I found at least one of the sources of trouble. Though Windows showed a Media card it was not the pcHD 3000 card but an on board thing.
I checked the boot messages and noticed that the pci device path could not be read and that no media card was found that could be used (the messages fly by really fast so I had to pay close attention and reboot several times to read the entire message). After some hw alignment that was fixed.
So the card is now recognized during the boot. However my input connections screen was still empty.
I had downloaded r12 before to see if that would make a difference before I found the hw issue. I continued checking that release and was surprised.
R12 does show me the 3 options in the input connections screen:
antenna, component, s-video
I of course tried R16 right after that again (thinking I must have made a mistake) but it did not give me the settings.
I installed again r12 and the options were there. I am not finished with the setup though, everything 'looks' now ok in r12 but when I choose to watch tv the screen goes black and the system hangs (seemingly as no key such as escape or anything work anymore).

r15 had an empty config screen too for me.
Using r12 and choosing to watch tv I got a blank screen and after several minutes I received the following error: "The connection to the master backend server has gone away for some reason.. Is it running?".
I noticed a weird warning message between the setup and the actual start of the myth interface. It told me that the background server was not able to change the status of a ".qt" file. Could that have anything to do with it?

in R5A15 and newer you use the dvb not the pchdtv3000 new drivers so it's different.

Well, that did it. I installed R16 and used the DVB setting. I could scan immediately for channels, did not get a good reception (some channels intermittently) but I assume thats because I just duct taped the very small antenna right next to dishes without any elevation.
Why is the separate setting HD3000 still in the setup available? Are older cards such as the 2000 still using it?
Now I only need to find a driver for the ac97 on the jetway via pm800 motherboard (want to get all the outputs switched to surround).
Thanks for the help!

you may want to try to set it to ts in the advanced settings on the dvb card, it helped my reception, though it's certainly no miracle cure for good signal.
