Hi,

I have followed the howto on the knoppmyth wiki but no matter what I do I can not get the listings for Sky, it loads some of the details but common channels are being left with no data. I have gone over the process many times and each time it does not work. Is there anyone using Mythtv in the UK that has setup xmltv to grab the listings who could help?

Any help appreicated.

Hello

Can you share your channel table from sql table and {source}.xmltv file please? I recently configured PVR 350 with SKY digibox. I have been trying to configure the epg data for all sky channels but could'nt do it myself.

I would really appreciate if you could provide those two.

Hi,

Only just seen this message, I will get the necessary files together tonite for you and post them here, my .xmltv file does not include all the channesl as some I do not watch or subscribe to (movies etc) however it is easy to add them in and I will detail how to do it. Note however that not all channels on Sky have listings on Radio Times website so you will have channels showing that contain no data i.e. Bad Movies, True Movies etc.

That would be really great. I have tried and compiled a list myself but i seem to have problem when i add more than 100 channels. Once you post your files i will compare them with mine and find out the problem.

Note the file above is in the format xmltv id, radio times id and a description. I got the info by doing a tv_grab_uk_rt --list-channels and putting the file together from that.

Thanks you guys for your posts above, it has really helped me, with your channel listings.

I am in the UK using a DVBT card to try and watch Freeview. I have scanned for and set up all of the channels I require, but still have a few problems with my database and getting a full EPG, and cannot watch live tv beacuse of the following conflicts.

At the moment I have 2 channel 1's, BBC1 and BBC 1 Midlands, and also two channel 2's, BBC 2 and BBC 2 Midlands, and also a lot of Unknowns appearing in my EPG which is being pulled from the Radio times.

Now I just need to know which files to edit to get rid of the national BBC 1 and 2, so I am viewing the local BBC's and also getting local listings on the EPG. I have no experience of sql, so a bit of help may be required.

I am also getting a lot of errors when executing the mythtv-backend script to update the EPG, to do with channels I am not even trying to get data for.

Also I have registered at the Radio times site, can I put that username in anywhere for the query maybe to let the RT know who it is doing it ????

Hi,

There are 2 ways you can go about this,

1. Delete the channel from the database
2. Set the visibility flag on the channel to off

To do step 1 the easiest way if you are not familiar with SQL is to start webmin - see here for a howto on that if you dont already have it configured:

Once you have webmin set up go in to Server/Mysql and select the Mythconverg database, this will then list all the tables within the database, you will see one called channels, click on it and it will display the table layout (i.e. field types etc), scroll down the screen ad you will see a button called View Data, click on this and you will be able to see all the data in that table, then all you have to do is locate the channel you do not need and delete it.

2. Go in to mythtv-setup and go to the Edit Channels option (not sure if thats its name - I am not near my box), scroll down the list until you see the channel you do not want and then press return, in the screen that appears you will see an option called visible - uncheck or check that and the channel will no longer be listed in the Guide.

As for getting errors when loading channels, I get some and they are mostly for channels that do not have listings on the RT site, let me know if this is not the case for you and I will try to help, may be worth however checking that your channels_id file only contains entries for channels you actually want. With regards to putting your RT username and password in to the query - I have no idea if this can be done or even if it needs to be - maybe some one out there can enlighten us?

The fastest way to set up channels for Freeview is via a set of files on
http://www.parker1.co.uk/mythtv.php

Most of the stuff there is not relevant to KnoppMyth, but the Fixing Channel Data section is what you're after.

There is a script which uses a data file to populate the myth database.
The data file is a tad out of date, but I've just sent my updated version to Garry.

Hope that helps.

PS. Unknown in the EPG is not necessarily bad, a lot of channels don't broadcast 24/7 and that's what appears when there is no data...

Hi,

I have a mythbox using DVB-T freeview. This is good to have as a portable media centre because pretty much every where has decent terrestial signal.

However, at home I currently have SKY. What can I do to get SKY working with my mythbox? I don't quite understand the mechanics of the setup?

Have we got one of the RF outputs of the SKY box going into an INPUT on the Tv Card?
Are we splicing the SKY Dish output to both SKY box and mythbox?
Are we replacing the SKY box?
How are we controlling the channels.. the SKY remote... myth remote?... both?

There are a couple of ways to setup the sky box.
The first is to have the box in the chain of RF devices, and set your tv card to pick it up on the right channel.
The second option is to take the AV ouptut of the sky box to an Svideo input port. This can be done with a scart > Svideo converter if the sky box doesn't have svideo output (My NTL box doesn't)

You will also need an IR sender to control the sky box, something like this:
