Hi all and I would like to thank everyone who has put so much effort into MythTV and KnoppMyth.

I have a n00b question and I apologize in advance and I've been reading the forum for several hours with lots of good information. I have a MythTV R5A22 backend/frontend setup working well. I have two tuners. One is a PVR-150 (Model 1045) hooked up to analog cable and another "tuner" connected via Firewire/IEEE1394 to a Comcast Motorola 6200 STB. The PVR-150 is the default tuner. The 6200 is the second tuner.

I configured two "Video Sources" for each tuner thru Zap2It (two datasources). The PVR-150 has a video source of channels 2-99 (Analog basic). The 6200 has video source of channels 2-119 which 2-99 being the analog channels and anything above channel 100 being digital.

The problem occurs when nothing is recording, I fire up "Watch Live TV", it defaults to the PVR-150. If I want to watch live tv of channels 100 and above, I can't switch to them (they are only available on the 6200).

If I start a recording on the PVR-150, exit and re-enter "Watch Live TV", I'm of course now on the Comcast 6200. Then I have access to watching all the analog and digital channels but that is only because I have Tuner 1 recording something and I'm forced to use Tuner 2.

So here's my dilemma. I would swap priorities of the tuners, make the 6200 Tuner 1 and the PVR-150 Tuner 2, however if I decide to schedule a recording of an analog channel (2-99), it would use the Comcast 6200 tuner. If I decide to fire up "Watch Live TV" while it's recording and wanted to watch a channel over 100, I'm SOL because the Comcast tuner is being used.

So in the scenario of both tuners being free (nothing recording) with the PVR-150 as Tuner 1 and Comcast 6200 as Tuner 2, when I hit "Watch Live TV" (goes to Tuner 1) and punch in a channel which is only available on Tuner 2 (any channel above 100), is there a way to get MythTV to switch to the Comcast Tuner 2? Right now, MythTV just ignores my commands to change to channels above 100 when I punch it into the remote.

Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Kermee

You need to read the MythTV docs on key bindings at: http://www.mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO-11.html which will tell you that 'Y' will switch you between input sources along with lots of other useful information.

You can also set the "input preference" in mythtv-setup under "4. Input Connections", and watching live TV will start with the highest ranked tuner that is currently available.

BTW - This is NOT an installation question, so don't be surprised if Cecil deletes this as "off topic".

tjc,

Thank you very much! I'm stupid for completely missing that section. I knew it was something simple... I must of skipped that part doing my RTFM.

Thanks again!

Kermee

Does MythWeb support two tuners? I love Mythweb, and I'm thinking about hooking up my 6200 but I can't find anything on tuner switching.

Thanks,
-marc

Huhn? What does the web interface have to do with tuners?

MythTV itself supports multiple tuners just fine. I've got two, other folks around here have more. (Does anybdy have 6 or more?) That was kind of the point of this whole thread, how to switch between them...

If I have two sets of channels, in my case it will be Comcast standard analog (ch 1 - 81) and Comacast digital (ch 0 - 9??). Can I schedule recordings on both cards thru the web interface? Will it display all stations/programming available and manage any overlaping channel numbers or does it have two sets of channel listings?

Thanks,
-marc

The program guides in both the front end and the web interface are unified. You see all the channels in one list. Tuner selection for recordings where there are overlaps is resolved by tuner priority. The MythTV documentation discusses this in some detail.

Sorry for the clueless questions, I'll give the how-to a closer read and try to setup the FW capture tonight.

Thanks!
