Sorry Doc, didn't even try. I already have a homebrew serial blaster working flawlessly for me, so I was only interested in the IR receiver.

I was trying the instructions at the blatter site, but ran into some issues:



Everything before that seems to have worked. I did have an installation of lirc previously, running lirc_streamzap, which I didn't really touch. Running R5A16.

Any ideas on getting past this step?

Not sure myself, I didn't run into those errors. Though I was using a different kernel source (R5A22's kernel version) and lirc 0.7.2.

I've since put on a clean install of R5A26 and the mceusb remote installation (as stated by Sergio) was much easier, none of the blatter steps/drivers were necessary.

During the A26 installation, I left the USB receiver plugged in and let the lirc-reconfig.sh script detect it. The script errors when it attempts to copy the config files, but manually copying the two files to the appropriate locations is easy enough.

I also noticed lircd crashing when IRW or IRRECORD ran (connection refused error) so I made the said changes to /etc/init.d/lirc, rebooted and it worked.

Initially I upgraded to R5A26 which seemed to go ok, except I couldn't get the remote working again for the life of me. I just said screw it and did a fresh install, which turned out to be much quicker and easier than banging my head after the upgrade.

I guess I'd recommend that if you can't get it working you consider a clean install of R5A26.
