Hi,

heard great things about knoppmyth on a podcast. so i went out and bought a 300gb hard drive, and a new happauge 150 pvr card with remote. removed an old hd from a 1.75 athlon xp machine, and put in the new 300 gig, installed the new tv card, closed up the case. burned a fresh copy of what i am assuming is the latest version of knoppmyth from this site.r something 7. booted the machine from the cd, worked fine, ran the auto installer. answered all the questions, went to reboot, removed the cd,. computer rebooted, but is stuck at the point right after it looks for a cd to boot. i have tried re installing this like 10 times now, on 2 different computers with 2 different hard drives and every time, i get the same thing, the computer wont boot. does knoppmyth not install a bootloader or something? all the hardware that i am using is supported, i specifically went out and bought what is KNOWN to work with myth tv. i have spent an hour looking through the list here, and find a ton of people are having the same problem, but all involve command line work and changing ownerships, etc, etc, etc is there another version or update i am missing to fix the bootloader problem? as i am sitting here looking at $400 worth of brand new equipment, being very frustrated, i am hoping maybe one of you would be able to point me in the right direction. Thanks for any help.

Hardware details would be helpful. Please don't force us to tease them out of you crumb by miserable crumb. See the format requested in the sticky posts under the Tier 1 and Tier 2 hardware recommendations for what information we want and how much detail.

Also, have you looked at any of the on-line hardware guides or the troubleshooting information on the wiki?

BTW - Formatting, short paragraphs, and vertical whitespace make postings a lot easier for people to read.

I had a very simalar problem, see
http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... highlight=
Solved it by messing around with lilo, though I would hope someone a little more familar with the inner workings of Linux could come up with a better description of how to do what I did.

G'day sfsmiley,

I too had the same problem and found the following thread to be very helpful.

http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... sc&start=0

as you can see from my number of posts I am very much a newbie as far as Knoppmyth is concerned, but basically there were some incorrect entries in lilo which stopped my install from booting at the same point as yours.

Unfortunately it does need to be rectified using the commandline but I found enough tips in the link above to get this done.

Hope this helps.
