Well, I took a bit to try this out, and it loads fine.... until i try to setup the channels. it finds nothing. no channels at all. It shows nothing but 4 composite inputs, instead of showing the correct inputs.
None of the inputs find any channels at all.

Did you set it up as a DVB device?

No. I set it up both as a V4L and as a HDTV. (/dev/video0)
It does not see the card as a DVB device.
Upon googling seeing devices in linux, i found this command:
dmesg. When CTRL-ALT-F1 to get a tty1 window, i logged in, and ran it.
When getting to the cx88 driver, it says the capture card is unknown/generic type, and is available as /dev/vbi0 and /dev/video0.
When attempting to use them in myth, it shows that the devices only have 4 composite inputs, so... hmm

I'm guessing the r5c7 version of knoppix does not support the pcHDTV HD-5500 card natively. Now i need to add the updated driver.... hmm...

Hi,

Just a reminder, the < 1ghz,

a 930 mhz will work fine, just not for hd.
and from tjc.

That combination really isn't going to fly. You really need more horsepower for HDTV.

I understand that mjl. I'm more interested in recording digital cable and standard channels than HD at this point. I just bought the HDTV card so that if i did want to record hd, i wouldn't have to purchase a new card to put in the newer pc. I picked this card because of the digital channel support. I'm not going to use it to record hd in this pc.

You need to set it up as a DVB device. That's how the HDTV cards are normally configured. I'm surprised Mike didn't point that out to you...

Well, the driver says it doesn't know what card it is, so i'd first need to put in the right version of the driver, right? Then I'd have to set it up as a dvb device......
