I've been playing around with Knoppmyth for a couple of months and FINALLY got TV to work. between ditching a GREAT ATI AGP card for a PCI Geforce4 and the new release R5C7 I got it all set up pretty easily. It felt great to see live TV after months of messing around.

I cannot get my remote to work, however.

I've been reading for 2 days in the MythWiki, the KnoppMyth Wiki, IVTV, LIRC and googling my brains out.

My problem is that I don't understand what hardware I'm using and how I'm supposed to configure it.

I'm using the remote that came with my Hauppauge PVR 150 MCE. I think this is the remote that is commonly referred to as the silver "dogbone" remote but I'm not sure. Its most distinguishing features are a green windows flag in the center of the remote, a logo on the back that says RC6 ir and a sticker inside the battery compartment that reads "MC X 5 44 E"

During the install process, when prompted to set up the remote I select 16 for hauppauge and d for the silver remote. when it asks if I have a serial IR blaster, I answer no because the card came with a USB IR receiver. I thought I read somewhere that USB isn't yet supported and I'd have to buy or build a serial IRblaster. Is this the case? I have a female serial to ps2 female converter and a ps2 male to usb female converter. I can daisy chain these things together to plug my ir blaster in to my serial port. Will that work or do I have to bite the bullet and buy/build something?

I'm really not sure I have to though. It seems as though the OS has picked up the IR receiver, because when I press buttons on the remote the receiver blinks. It doesn't seem like these keypresses are making it to the applications though, because no button presses do anything in myth.

I keep reading that PVR150's should "Just work" out of the box but I'm having a hell of a time. The other thing I was looking in to was finding a good LIRC config file. Since I only ever see references to the "Dogbone" "Silver" or "Grey" remotes I don't know which one to DL and use. I thought about trying to set it up myself, but I don't even know if my keypresses are getting in to the machine in order for me to test my configs.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Plug the USB sensor directly into the box, rerun lirc-reconfig.sh as root, and try MCEUSB or MCEUSB2 if it doesn't autodetect the USB device by itself... The classic "Hauppauge" remote is for the sensor that plugs directly into a non-MCE PVR-[123]50. The USB one is supposed to be MCE compatible.
