I'm a linux newbie, so this may not be as technical as it should.
Here's my hardware setup:
Code: AMD Athlon 1.2GHz Biostar M7NCG 400 Mobo 512MB DDR2100 PNY GeForce FX5500 128mb Hauppauge PVR500 MCE USB remote 120GB HD I downloaded and installed the newest relese of Knoppmyth. Everything seemed to go fine. The tuner, video card, everything seemed to be recognized properly. I set up the tuner as two pvr150s, both using the zap2it source I set up. When I do a channel scan, video0 recognizes a bunch of channels, but video1 does not. When I go to watch live TV, after doing all the setup, I'm stuck on one channel. I can scroll though all the channels and see the listing for them, but when I try to change to them, the video blinks for a second and stays on the same channel. Any ideas? Again, I'm pretty green with this stuff, so if someone would like to see logs, you're going to have to give me instuctions on how to do so. Thanks.[/code]

Get back into mythtv-setup (see the wiki for detailed instructions), Under "Video Sources" drop your video sources and recreate them. Make sure you associate the new video source with both tuners under "Input Connections". Do not repeat not scan for channels, you've already got the information and doing so will roach the good stuff you downloaded from zap2it. (This is one of those cases where if some is good, more is not better.)
There is a write up I posted around here somewhere (I think in response to a question by Dr.Hood) that walks you through the set up to use the tuner(s), as well as a somewhat out of date PVR-500 howto on the wiki.

After I re-created my video sources and associated the tuners with it, I went to exit the setup and got a message:
Code: Card 1( type Tuner) is set to start on channel 3, which does not exist. Card 2 (type Tuner) is set to start on channel 3, which does not exist.
Do you want to fix these problems?
Yes, please No, I know what I'm doing
Choosing yes brings me back into the setup, choosing no tells me to run mythfilldatabase.
I choose no, ran mythfilldatabase, started the backend, started the frontend, and now I get static on all channels.
I tried changing the channel frequency table setting to us-cable, us-cable-hrc, and us-cable-irc, but nothing fixed it.
The connection is good, I tested it with a television and it picks up a picture fine.
What could be causing static?

From the 'messages' log it seems IVTV recognizes the card correctly. (I'd post the log here, but I don't think there's an internet browser installed.)
Basically IVTV sees one Hauppauge 150 card, recognizes it as a 500 card and loads the firmware and initialzes both of them. I didn't see any errors in the 'messages' log.
In the 'backend' log there is a line that says "found 2 recorders", so I assume those are the tuners.
The only line in the backend log that doesn't look right is:
Code: TVRec(2): Changing from None to WatchingLiveTV Can't enable VBI recording (2) vbi: Invalid argument
Anything else I should check or test?

I'm a little low on energy tonight so I'll suggest hunting down any of several diagnostic walk through threads for how to get the card information with lspci and ivtvctl (hint - search using the colored keywords). It'll help a lot if you set up remote access so that you can ssh into the KnoppMyth box and then cut and paste the results from the diagnostic commands. Also, there's a lot of troubleshooting information on the wiki.

I got everything working after recompiling IVTV from the Wiki here:
http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=CompileIvtv
Thanks for your help though.
All the channels work, the lower ones are a little fuzzy though? Could the frequency table have something to do with that or is it a connection issue?
Thanks again for your help.

Step 4 is about the only thing that should matter, unless you did the cx25840 patch mentioned in step 3. See this similar thread here - http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=10217ogrerocks wrote: Thanks for your help though. All the channels work, the lower ones are a little fuzzy though? If you're using us-cable, and 5 and 6 are pretty wonky, you might try us-cable-irc.
Other than that it's probably time to check your connections. The usual rules include:
- Use screw on cables, not push on cables. Even cheap screw on connectors work better than the best push on ones.
- Do not daisy chain splitters or other equipment. The cummulative dB loss and noise can trash you signal quality. You're much better off with 1 N-way splitter, instead of (N-1) 2-way splitters. Passing your signal through something like a VCR can also play havoc with it.
- If you go over 5-6 devices on one feed you may need to look into a powered signal amp.

I had the same problem and just performed step 4 (using RC5C7). It worked.
