No Sound Niether from sound card, on board, and PVR-150 something which should be horribly easy to make it work.
No Remote Detection
Knoppmyth is by far a very awsome project! Why they didnt do the development on a supporter of KDE is beyond me. No one needs a l337 hacker box for friggin recording videos.
Gnome Sucks interface is horrible and a lot of things are just plain difficult dont we use the right click button enough in a windows or kde based OS why make us use the SOB any more then you have to and menus after menus after submenus more menus...

Lynx Sucks why make stuff more difficult then it needs to be for configureability pffft whats there to configure when you're browsing a website stay off of pornopassword for a bit and things should be just fine...

And starting to have my doubts about Mandriva2006.0 and running SQL on it as well.

I have heard much talk of kubuntu or whatever it calls touting it is more stable then mandriva and actuallly....

Theres a long ways to go to meeting the simplified configureability in mythtv itself but knoppmyth is surely making an abrupt progression twords this.

I might just go with windows and throw on GBPVR hell I know it'll work at least. But I keep thinking that waiting it out will be worth it in the end with all the rave reviews on myth and such and all the time I have invested already its kinda a rough thought to pack my chit and leave now.

Anyhow I thank the developers of knoppmyth for giving me the oppurtunity to beable to see live tv no sound or not cause I was beginning to think that it was near impossible trying to get er done on mandriva.

I appreciate any feedback on things good bad or ugly everyone has a right to express there own opiinon or thought.

PVR-150 Non-MCE IR Blaster Port Audio Port
ATI Radeon
P4 478 2.8ghz 533mhz fsb
512mb DDR333
Soundblaster live 24bit
100GB WD
80GB Maxtor
ECS L4VXA2 MOBO VIA Chipset...

Any help on getting audio and IR going would be of great use.

Is it just live TV that has no sound? Can you play mp3s ok? have you checked in alsamixer if the volume is too low or muted?

Can't really help you with the remote problems, but i'm sure there are lots of ppl on the forums with a pvr150 remote there must be a howto somewhere...

Line In was on tunned all volumes up and all volumes at 50% just to make sure.

As far as the remote ... I've used the search for it for a while here and a while there for both my IR issues as well as my volume issues I have seen none that were directly related to my issues for the most part or what was suggested did not meet a resuloution for me, hence the reason from which my post derrives.

Thank You for you're words they are very much appreciated,

Hi,

If you are willing to try to make it work, I think most of the folks here are willing to try and lend a pointer or two.

Break it up into seperate issues.
Start with one, then step through to the next.
A; no audio
fill in the blanks....
mother board basics
audio card basics
we know you have a pvr150, how new ? (some of the real new ones have issues with audio :( )
hard drive a reasonable size > ?
what version are you installing?

Did you as root run # alsaconfig ?
alsamixer runs but card may be mis-id'd, I had one that would id as 18xx when a modprobe of 1688 was the kick it needed.

levels I find run ~ 70 and greater, master & pcm. line in is not used w/150. Go through and umute everything and pump up the levels, once it is working you can "adjust as desired" Sound should be on the line out and requires an amp.

Can you rip a music cd and play it, if you do a backup do you hear the chime?

Once your audio is going, then go after the ir issue.
Mike
