I searched already but no luck. Hopefully this is a easy fix.


I boot up and Mythtv is open.
i go to optical devices
I select DVD but nothing happens. It just stays there with thew arrow pointed.


If i close out of MythTV and just use the Xine player i can watch the DVD.


What am i missing?

Perhaps checking the command that is used to play DVDs in the settings....

under MythTV i go to setup, then video, then i Click ont he DVD but it just closes out MythTv and brings up the desktop.

Run mythfrontend from an xterm. If it crashes, you should see some output in the xterm. Check the backend log. Read the wiki for further details on troubleshooting.
