Hello, you Myth-Gurus, you. As this is my first post, I feel obligated (as I've read elsewhere) to proclaim my Linux noob-ism. My experience with Linux prior to last week were completely related to upgrading my TiVo boxes (with step-by-step monkey-see-monkey-do instructions). I've been wrestling with Myth for a little over a week now, reading everything I could find, and now am ready to post feeling that I have a defense for the "Why didn't you search the forums!" flame that is possibly forthcoming. I built my system based on this "tested" system at NewEgg: http://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/wis ... er=3176887 The only variation is that I upgraded to a 400GB Samsung drive rather than the 120GB spec'ed in the setup. I did a full manual install (several of them now, actually) of R5C7. Of the things that weren't working, I now have my MCEUSB remote working fine and am connected to my network (my USB wireless wasn't cutting it, went with a hardwire). My remaining problems, which if not remedied are deal-breakers, are that my system is quite unstable (freezes occasionally and then crashes out to a shell on the desktop), but even when it's running, I cannot change channels on either tuner. The GUI says I'm changing channels, but the program continues to run as it was before. I don't know if perhaps I'm in over my head with Myth due to my Linux ignorance or not. I'm very well versed in Windoze and considered the other options (BeyondTV, etc.) but found Myth the most attractive. I don't want to give up, but at this rate I'm ready to pull my hair out. I love Myth and where it's going, and want to be on the bandwagon. What I'm hoping is someone else has built this same rig (since it's featured as the only one when you search "knopp" on NewEgg) and can offer some insight before I have to move on. Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to offer. |

Well, I've no idea who posted that on NewEgg. It is by no means official... Have you read the toubleshooting information on the wiki? That would be the first step... |

So there's no confusion, start here: http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=TroubleShooting Looking at your logfiles is always a good idea. |
