Have just completed an install kudo's to all the developers and contributors.

Ive been watching the progress of Mythtv for the last few years and finally got around to building one. Listed below is my system configuration, the problems I encountered, and resolutions that I found.

System Configuration
KnoppMyth R5C7
ASUS P4P800-E
XFX Geforce FX5200 Version 4.0
2.80 GHz Celeron
512mb
500gb HD
HD3000 -External Antenna
PVR350 -Cable input
PVR150 -Cable input
Audio Authority A960 transcoder

The whole install was relatively painless with a few bumps in the road the required some research.

The auto-install option went without a problem. The first problem I had was not realizing that I had to configure my HD3000 pcHDTV as DVB
http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... ght=pchdtv

The second minor problem was that the PVR150 was not getting initialized:
added the following line to my /etc/mythtv/modules/ivtv file (Fixes PVR150)

Code:
options ivtv tuner=-1,50

Next I hit the icon problem and found the answer for that:

I also ran into a Transcode problem but found a work around for that:
R5C7 Transcoding Problem

The last problem that gave me the most problem was with the Nvidia drivers. When I tried to run an 1920x1080i modeline the left hand side of the menus was displaying in the middle of the screen!!
The latest drivers fixed that problem NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8762-pkg1.run
http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_disp ... -8762.html
The only thing left to do is to figure out how to adjust the menu sizes since Im getting a lot of overscan.

Thanks again to all that posted the fixes!!

For the PVR problem try upgrading to the 0.4.6 drivers following the directions on the wiki here: http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=CompileIvtv It might even noticably improve your capture quality for the PVR-150.

A lot of the other stuff is also addressed in the trouble shooting pages on the wiki here: http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=TroubleShooting

For overscan adjustments look at the nvidia-settings utility: http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=NvidiaSetup

BTW - Nice writeup, but this probably belongs under Tier 2 Hardware Recommendations rather than installation. If you ask Cecil nice he might even move it for you... It would also be good to add the specs for you video card to the hardware description. See the "working hardware" template in the sticky postings under the Tier 1 & 2 Hardware Recommendations topics.
