Last night I ran an auto install of R5D1 and it went smoothly. Upon first boot I was able to select my tuner (Hauppauge 250) and it looked like everything was okay.

I then went to watch tv and the screen flashes for a second then nothing happens. I also tried going to mythweb to add some programs to record and that behaves oddly. I can see tv listings and am able to schedule a recording so it shows up in 'recording schedules' but nothing ever appears in 'upcoming recordings.' I'm really confused as to what is going on and would appreciate any help I can get.

Here is some info from /var/log/messages - if more is needed to help diagnose this let me know:

What kind of input does the PVR card have? Cable straight from the wall or is there some kind of cable box in the mix?

Under "Input Connections" in mythtv-setup did you associate the "Video Source" with the input you're using and only that?

See the troubleshooting pages on the wiki for more: http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=TroubleShooting
Especially this one which covers most of these "failure to tune" issues: http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=BlackScreenWatchingTV

OBTW - Good work on the logfile extract. It shows that your card and tuner is being recognized properly and the firmware is getting loaded. Keep it up! :D

Ahhhhh, thanks tjc! I had setup the card in mythtv-setup but I forgot to associate the video source with it.

Thank you so much, everything seems to be working now :)

Don't feel bad, my first time out of the box I associated the video source with all the inputs. The MythTV documentation around setup stuff is less than crystal clear.

Anyway, now you get to point the next newbie with this kind of problem to the appropriate troubleshooting pages. ;-)

OBTW - You might also want to edit your title to add " - solved".
