I have an ATI 9600 Pro video card hooked up to a Sony Trinitron TV via an S-video cable. Everything works - but there is noise/static/snow on the screen. It is somewhat usable - but not really enjoyable. Why is it that a $29 DVD player can put out razor sharp text and crystal clear images but video cards with S-video often seem to have mediocr quality at best.

I've tried high quality S-video cables, tweaking drivers and flicker settings, put large anti-RF things on the cables, etc. Nothing removes the static. Everything else on the TV (vcr, cable, dvd) looks great.

Any suggestions?
