Post subject:  Saving and restoring a working setup

I have R5D1 working with my PVR350. It was no cake-walk, but with help from posts by zaroff1967, Bob, and tjc I got it to work across re-boots. Things are working well, so I figured I would add my HD3000. However, before I do so I want to "back things up" so I can get back to the stable setup I have now if things go wrong. From my research, it looks like the HD3000 and PVR350 can step on each other if I am not careful. Can anyone tell me how to save and restore my "stable R5D1 setup" before I add my HD3000?

A normal backup should cover almost everything that's likely to change. Given that you can always "reupgrade" to the same version. Hopefully you've made good notes on the changes you've had to make to get everything working.

If you want to go belt and suspenders backup /usr/local and /usr/share too. For extra bonus points backup the whole /myth partion to another disk or box.

Forgive my ignorance, but what do you mean by "normal backup"?

Running the standard script "mythbackup", which is used for the normal upgrade process. This is what the "backup" button on the KnoppMyth Menu does...

BTW - Searching the forums for "backup" would have tunred up this information and a bunch more. For example I remember an excellent thread about doing more extensive backups when compiling and installing eperimental version of MythTV. There may even be a wiki page or two on the topic.
