I have installed R5D1 with my pvr-350 everything displays on my tv, except live tv and recording tv wont work either. The pvr 350 is shown in dmesg and I can even #cat /dev/video0 > filename.mpg and it captures vide and audio. But I can not see live tv its just a black screen then it sits for a few then bumps back to the mythtv screen. When I record it says it is but only records blank files about 5k in size. I am using an Nvidia 5200 chipset card for tv out via dvi which works. What am I missing here? Thanks in advance |

Well, first thing I would do is to check the hostname/IP addresses are all as expected in the setup screens. If you have an outward looking IP ie not a loopback one, remember to uncomment 'skip networking' in /etc/mysql/my.cnf -it sounds as if you are not connecting to the database. Also, in the tv settings, allow titles, categories and recording groups to show, everything, otherwise recorded shows don't appear. I even re-installed because I knew things were being recorded but couldn't see them in the listing when all it was was that the listings filter in media library was too strick by default. Also, do upgrade to 0.20 if you haven't already. This cleared similar bugs to what you are describing, for me. I've only managed to get Knoppmyth running for about 48hours max before something unexplicable happens. At the moment, the hue has dropped to zero and can't be moved so everyone has bright green faces. All I did was update the guide listing in mythtv-setup... Anyway, hope this helps. |

How do i Upgrade to the .20? I only found a link to upgrade to the svn. And the databse seems to connect fine as I can view the tv channel listing in mythweb etc... Did I miss something during the install? |

cesman has posted a how to on here. I don't know the link but think it may be a 'sticky'. From memory if you see this in a post, it's the right thread. Remember this is from memory, so DONT exectute this: echo "deb ftp://knoppmyth.net/R5 ./" >> /etc/apt/sources.list apt-get update dpkg -r libmyth-0.19 libmyth-0.19-dev mythtv mythtv-backend mythtv-common..... ..... mythburn-ui rm -fr /usr/share/mythtv/mythweb apt-get install mythtv mythplugins myththemes mythstream mythstreamtv Theres more, so the above won't work on it's own. You'll soon commit it to memory if you've had to do it as many times as I have. Anyway, hope upgrading improves things for you. I class it as an essential step, so I would do that and then see what doesn't work and go from there. |

Just to let you know I've had to reinstall again, and had the same problem. The 0.20 upgrade fixed the live tv problem. I can't record from the tv schedule now, I'm going to do a search and post a question if necessary. |

Check out http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php? ... WatchingTV What do you see when you watch live tv? Is it a black screen or just static or what? Depending on what you are seeing, we can try to narrow down the problem. |

It is just a black screen and it sits there then after like ohh 20 secs it goes back to the mythtv frontend. And when i try to record stuff it only records files and keeps the size as 1.1 KB. I mean did I miss something after the install. I just followed the prompts with Knoppmyth. I am almost tempted to head back to gentoo as I was under the impression that Knoppmyth was going to be the quickest way to get this working. |

Also I think this is the v.20 upgrade you spoke of. --- Not as clean as I'd like... But if you follow these instructions as root, you'll be 0.20. Make sure you backup first! Code: echo "deb ftp://knoppmyth.net/R5 ./" >> /etc/apt/sources.list apt-get update dpkg -r libmyth-0.19 libmyth-0.19-dev mythtv mythtv-backend mythtv-common mythtv-database mythtv-debug mythtv-doc mythtv-frontend mythplugins mythburn-ui rm -fr /usr/share/mythtv/mythweb apt-get install mythtv mythplugins myththemes mythstream mythstreamtv rm -fr /var/www/mythweb ln -sf /usr/share/mythtv/mythweb /var/www During the install process, you see: Quote: E: /var/cache/apt/archives/mythplugins_0.20a-1_i386.deb not a valid DEB package. E: Prior errors apply to /var/cache/apt/archives/mythplugins_0.20a-1_i386.deb E: Prior errors apply to /var/cache/apt/archives/mythtv_0.20-8_i386.deb You can safely ignore this... I had to manually make changes to the package. Now restart the backend and you should be good to go. --- |

Well I have managed to botch everything up yet again on it. So in the morning I am going to do a fresh installd of R5D1 and then upgrade with the previous steps to mythtv .20 if that doesn't work then I might just need to get a tivo. |

Hi, May I suggest that you try an install with R5C7 and get all setup and working, then do a backup. This would give you time to learn your new KM box and do some research about R5D1. Later simply do an upgrade to R5D1 followed with a restore. To me an older car that runs is better than a new car that doesn't. The R5D1 and the 350 card tv out didn't play nicely together to start but there are some solutions on the forum. Mike |
