I have a microsoft MCE1039 and have installed the proper lircd.conf and lircrc. irw shows that the remote works. But I cant get myth to see the remote. What am I doing wrong? Is there a file I have to edit to associate the files to lirc? I have searched the forum about this setup and followed many different scenarios but I still cant get it to work. Any suggestions?

What's the full path of the lircd.conf and lircrc files? I've noticed that KM puts lirc files in several places:

/etc
/etc/lirc
~mythtv/.lircrc
~mythtv/.mythtv/lircrc

The last 2 are what mythtv uses to map remote keys to mythtv keys. After changing them I usually restart lircd and gdm.

the actual files are in ~mythtv/.mythtv/lircrc and /etc/lirc. The other references are symlinks

A friend did a slightly modified install for me to get my satellite card working properly so a few dirs are different.

irw shows the signals are coming through i was just wondering if i put the lircrc in the wrong dir, last night i changed everyone i could find on the computer. Will it make a difference if my last remote was the one on the hauppauge card and now Im using a usb one?
