I'm hoping someone can help me out with this one. I hit a dependency snag when trying to install openoffice.org using apt-get. I am using Knoppmyth R5E50 with only a couple of other packages installed (ddclient, firefox). I'm not an apt-get expert and I've never encountered a dependency error before. I don't want to get careless and trash my system which is working very well. I can see the conflict that is happening, but I don't know how to fix it without risking bigger problems. TIA, -Jeff

Here is what I get from apt-get:

root@mythtv2:/usr/share/fonts/truetype/msttcorefonts# apt-get check
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
openoffice.org: Depends: openoffice.org-java-common but it is not installed
openoffice.org-base: Depends: openoffice.org-java-common but it is not installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try using -f.

When I run apt-get -f install, I get this:

root@mythtv2:/usr/share/fonts/truetype/msttcorefonts# apt-get -f install
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Correcting dependencies... Done
The following extra packages will be installed:
bsh openoffice.org-java-common

bsh openoffice.org-java-common

As long as it is only newly installed I have not had any breakages, it is the other two that are the KM killers.

Thanks for the help. I ran the command you suggested, followed again by 'apt-get -f install' and all is good.

R5E50 is working great for me, thanks for all of the hard work.
