Hi All !

I downloaded ftp://ftp.knoppmyth.net/R5/Current/KnoppMythR5E50.iso and burned it as an ISO CD.
Then, I booted on this CD.
The CD loads, I hit <ENTER> when it prompts "boot:".
Then it tries to load but errors from the CD are prompted.
I never get to where I should choose the method (manual, auto, ...).
I checked the md5sum of my CD, and it's OK.

Does anyone have an idea ?

Olivier

Try burning the ISO at a slower speed.

And what would the errors be, exactly? Tough to diagnose when we don't know what your system is telling you...

You can test to see if the CD contains the correct data by doing the following from the boot prompt,
Code:
tv testcd

I agree with khrusher: try burning the disc at a lower speed. I ran into this on my R5D1 disc. I did the first one @ 48x and it had read errors, after I broke the disc in half, I burnt another @ 4x and it worked great. Give it a try and let us know.

Different media or a different burner may also help. CD writer to CD reader compatibility is often iffy. Especially using drives which were chosen based on cost rather than known compatibility.

Yeah, I'll second what tjc said about the media and burner. Cheapest thing you can do is buy some new media.

Let us know how it goes for you.

I had the same problem and fixed it by swapping the cdrom itself on the target machine. For whatever reason the cdrom that was in there to begin with would freeze halfway though the install.
