I just did a new R5E50 auto-install on a VIA EPIA-M10000 board with a PVR-350. The installation ran smoothly for the most part. After running setup, enabling tv-out and rebooting I get this:

and then nothing.

The only glitch I hit was that MythTV couldn't get out to the internet to download my channel lineup. Could be that I botched up the network/DHCP settings. I'm going to try another reinstall from scratch tomorrow night and hope that this magically goes away. If anyone knows what's going wrong, I'd appreciate hearing about it.

Now that I think about it... the system booted just fine the first time, before I ran the setup and enabled TV-out on the PVR-350. Is it possible that there's contention between the EPIA and PVR-350 for TV-out?

Can you run the following commands and root and post the results..

1) less Xorg.0.log | grep EE
2) less /var/log/messages | grep ivtv
3) cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf

sorry i probably should have been more specific. I suspect you are booting up fine.. but that the problem lies in your xorg.conf or is a problem with the XDriver or ivitv driver themselves. I bet you can ssh in form another computer to run those commands.

As I suspected... reinstalled from scratch last night and the problem magically went away. :o

I'm hosed again. I had things running with the EPIA TV-out, but I wasn't happy with the quality. So I decided to use the TV-out of my PVR-350. I ran setup_350.sh, and now my system won't boot. I get the same output that I posted earlier.

The only conclusion I can come to is that there's some sort of conflict that occurs when using the PVR-350 TV-out on an EPIA board. Is anyone else out there running this configuration?

Mike, I appreciate your response. Unfortunately I can't ssh into the box. It barely starts booting when I hit this error.

If anyone has suggestions on how to get this configuration working, I'd really appreciate hearing about it.

Actually, I think Mike's got it right. I am experiencing the exact same problem using a motherboard with the Via KM400 chip set (Biostar M7VIG 400). However, although the Myth box appears to be hung up it has actually booted and I can access it via SSH from another computer. Boris and I just don't see it because our TV-out isn't working.

I pulled the data that Mike requested. Can anyone shed some light on this problem?

Matt, thanks for jumping in and posting your data. Maybe I just didn't wait long enough before ssh'ing into the box. :oops:

Hopefully the info that Matt posted is enough to diagnose the problem. If not, I can reassemble my box and post my versions of the logs and conf files.

Well, I can't say for sure what I did or where the problem was, but mine's working now. I powered everything down, pulled out and re-plugged all the cable connections, and then did a fresh auto-installation. That seemed to do it. It's possible that mine was just a dumb cable issue.

Hi there,

I've had the same problem using KnoppMyth R5F27, how I got around it was to make sure I had my machine connected to my network at setup time, then when you go through the post install setup you get a bunch of updated files automatically downloaded which seemed to fix the "Waiting for /dev to be fully populated..." hang for me. I think the updated files were ivtv ones.
