First install on new box get this error after intial reboot once cd is removed screen flashes quckly upon initial login then the msg then 5min timeout then same deal again thx |

Wow, I can even see it re-spawn. It entered the same message in the forum five times! |

I think they got fooled by the debug error which makes it look likes posts are failing. It looks like the search tables are borked. |

That mssg typically means something is not right with the video driver in /etc/X11/xorg.conf Search that file for "driver" and make sure the video card driver is using the correct video card you are using. |

Hi, While you are trying to figure out what is the correct driver, "vesa" should work to get you started. You may also try a lower res than the 1280x1024 as the first fix. 800x600 is most always safe. Mike |

I had the same problem. I'm using an ati X700 card. The xorg.conf file had the driver set to 'ati'. The problem went away when I switched it to 'radeon'. - David |
