What is the purpose of this directory and its files? It seems that the same files are duplicates with different names in: \\Mythtvhost\myth\tv. |

The /myth/pretty directory contains symbolic links to the files in /myth/tv with "pretty" (as in the actual program titles) names. I believe it's used by MythWeb, but don't quote me on that. |

I am sure there are multiple other uses like the mythweb presentation. But for me if you link to \\hostname\mythbox\myth\pretty via Samba it makes finding your file a lot easier in that other o/s. i.e. in \\hostname\mythbox\myth\tv the files looks really cryptic 1111_20070524005900.nuv which translates to Tuner source&Channel_DateTime as YYYMMDDHHMMSS.nuv Looking at that same file in \\hostname\mythbox\myth\pretty The symlink to that file is named Tools & Techniques - 2007-05-24, 0-59 AM - Narrow Rips and Cool Tools.nuv which is usually Show - Date and Time - Episode much easier to understand. and the symlink is very small. Code: ls -al "Tools & Techniques - 2007-05-24, 0-59 AM - Narrow Rips and Cool Tools.nuv"
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 32 May 24 12:35 Tools & Techniques - 2007-05-24, 0-59 AM - Narrow Rips and Cool Tools.nuv -> /myth/tv/1111_20070524005900.nuv but if you look at it in that other o/s it shows exact same size as the original file. anyway my .02 |
