Post subject:  Building/Packaging apps for KM from another Debian machine.

Okay, so I am really into f-spot and want the most cutting edge versions. Unfortunately I cannot build from SVN on my KM R5F1 box. I suspect that this is because of the 193 packages that are not up to date. I have managed to build it on my Ubuntu 7.04 box.

So, I want to know what should I do to get the built result onto the KM box. Here are some details and questions that I know to ask. (I'm sure their are many that I do not know that I do not know.):
* KM box - AMD Athlon 2600+ (single core 32bit), nVidia Geforce MX4000
* Ubuntu box - Intel Core Duo (dual core 32bit), Intel GMA945
* Do I need to pass cross compile parameters, or or the CPUs similar enough?
* Do I need to make a deb, or can I simply do the autogen, make all, and copy the src dir to the KM to do the make install?
* If I need to make a deb, what instructions should I follow for making a KM friendly deb?

Please advise.

Odds are, if you cannot build you'll have issues with it running (if it runs at all). I seriously doubt that f-spot needs all 193 packages upgraded in order to compile. I'd suggest posting details on the f-spot mailing list/forum/whatever with details on the compilation failure.
