So far things have been steadily moving along with my first KM install. I have a WinTV PVR-150 with the built in IRBlaster and Dogbone remote (A415-HGP)
and i have NO idea what i am supposed to be doing with LIRC to get this working. I have read about 6 or 7 different things to do and none seem to work. I did the upgrade at Blushing Penguin and that broke my LIRC completely. I could really use some help. Is it even worth trying to get this to work or should i just get another one that is easier to get to work? Any help would be greatly appricated.

Which version?

Which remote did you select during the install? If it was not the correct one, you can re-run lirc-reconfig.sh and select the appropriate option. lirc-reconfig.sh has handled my A415 setup automatically since (at least) R5D1.

If you find you have sporadic results with your remote and you are running R5F27, be sure to see #5 under Known Issues here http://knoppmyth.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.p ... 84&start=0

Can you be more specific?

I assume it is the remote and not the IR blaster you're trying to get working...
Is the cable or the IR receiver firmly seated in the 150? (that got me in my initial KM installation)
What happens when you run irw in a terminal window and hit buttons on your remote?

OK here is some more info , sorry about the lack of info before this.. was just getting very frustrated with this LIRC

1) The Release is R5F27
2) I have redone lirc-reconfig.sh and got this when running irw

root@mythtv:/home/fhmoreho# irw
00000000000017b5 00 PLAY blaster
00000000000017b5 01 PLAY blaster
00000000000017b6 00 STOP blaster
00000000000017b6 01 STOP blaster
00000000000017b6 00 STOP blaster

So i assume this means something is running. But it will not seem to do anything in MythTV though. Any other thoughts/info would be very helpful and thanks again for the speedy responses.

Is this on a fresh install, or still using the "upgraded" lirc?
Did you answer "Yes" when asked if you had a serial IR blaster?
What, if any, keypresses do work within Myth?

I don't use irw myself so I'm not sure about this, but my definitions are Stop and Play (keep in mind these are case-sensitive). What are the contents of your /etc/lirc/lircd.conf and /home/mythtv/.mythtv/lircrc files? The definitions must match exactly - Play is not PLAY, Stop not STOP, etc.

I'm not running R5F27 myself, just throwing some lirc basics out there to see if anything obvious pops up...

See the R5F27 Hints issue that slowtolearn pointed you to. Until you fix that event stealing problem everything else may be futile.

Also, go back to a clean install if possible, since you don't want a borked lirc build confusing the issue.

Finally, unless you need to use the blaster to control a cable box, you may want to try configuring for just the Hauppauge Silver remote (A415).

A link to that post, along with any adjustments you had to make, might be in order to help the next guy to run into this...

For the edification of others, what was it you had to change to get it working? There are a number of things mentioned in that post.

It was a misconfig between my Lircrc and lircd.conf.

Ok... now i have LIRCD running and the IR Transmitter is working ( i can see the blinking lights going) but i am having trouble finding my STB's code. Did use the "master list" done up on the blushing penguin.. but nothing turned it off. Has anyone had any had any luck getting a Bell Expressvu 4100 working with lircd
