Long story short: want to create DVD jukebox to keep 2-year-old from destroying more discs. Import feature in Myth not working. No problem, created ISO on Windows box and FTP'd it to Myth Box. Internal player didn't like it. Switched to VLC -- works great, but remote doesn't function. After much Googling, added lines to ~/.lircrc for VLC for each button on my StreamZap remote. Some buttons work, some don't. Used irw to make sure I had the right names -- I do. Used VLC wiki to make sure I had the right keys -- I do. Why the heck would some keys work but not others? key-nav-up and key-nav-down work, but key-nav-left and key-nav-right don't. key-pause works, but key-play doesn't. Most importantly, key-nav-activate doesn't work. (Any unassigned or misassigned button seems to do a key-nav-up, so I'm not totally sure my key-nav-up is working.) So I can tell my wife to pull out the wireless keyboard whenever she wants to play a kid-friendly DVD -- but I figured some smart cookie here could point me in a better direction. |

Switched to xine. Not perfect, but at least I can select a video from a DVD menu now. |
