Post subject:  Problems with IRBlaster

Hey all,

I purchased an IR Blaster from irblaster.info which I cannot seem to get working.
I've disabled kernel support for ttyS0.
I'm running lircd with the following command:
/usr/sbin/lircd --driver=default --device=/dev/lirc3 --output=/dev/lircd1

and then I execute:
irsend -d /dev/lircd1 SEND_ONCE DCT700 power

The command completes without any errors, however, the cable box doesn't turn off and I can't see the blaster's led flash in a webcam.

Dmesg gives me:
Interrupt 4, port 03f8 obtained
lirc_serial: SET_SEND_CARRIER
lirc_serial: in init_timing_params, freq=38000, duty_cycle=50, clk/jiffy=2999898, pulse=39472, space=39472, conv_us_to_clocks=2999
lirc_serial: SET_SEND_DUTY_CYCLE
lirc_serial: in init_timing_params, freq=38000, duty_cycle=50, clk/jiffy=2999898, pulse=39472, space=39472, conv_us_to_clocks=2999
lirc_serial: freed IRQ 4

So it looks like it's doing something, I'm just not sure what.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had a bunch of problems getting my blaster (from irblaster.info) to work at first. My problem was a little different because I also had a PVR150 blaster but this post shows most of my logs. Take a look and compare. I am not an expert but will can tell you whatever my system is doing and maybe it will help.

BTW, I noticed the DCT700 in your log. I tried running the IRblaster on a DCT700 and could not get it to transmit a zero. All other numbers work fine. Did a google and it is a well known problem.

I've tried using the irblaster.sh script and it produced roughly the same setup that I had before.

I still cannot see the LED in the irblaster flash in a webcam. I've heard that this approach doesn't always work, so maybe the configuration file that I have isn't correct.

If this is the case, how can I tell if the blaster is actually sending signals?

Basically, how can I tell if the blaster is actually transmitting without the use of a webcam? Once I figure that out, I can work on getting the configuration correct.

Thanks
