Post subject: | Wintv 350 Audio output Help!!!!!! |
Hello All: I am almost there to getting mythtv to work correctly but I am unable to get any sound once I check in the watch tv settings to allow wintv 350 video output. If I don't select this I can get sound and video but is very choppy and slow. I have searched and tried different things from this forum with no success. I know this has been asked before but could someone please give me a hand. What else can I try, I followed every how to in setting up the Wintv 350. I noticed that I try to play a recording which I made before using the TV out in the 350 and when I play it on the TV no sound comes out at all (onboard sound), so it must be something with the sound card. I made sure using alsamixer that no outputs were muted. any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks pibeleo Current computer setting ASUS P4s8x-xP4 2.4 with 512MB RAM (Build in Audio) Nvidia GEforce MX400 Wintv 350 200 GB hard drive |

If you check the use pvr350 box the sound will go out the audio outputs on the pvr350 card, no exceptions. There has been some discussion on how to loop that back through the onboard sound, however I am unaware of a working solution. |

If you use TVout of the PVR350, sounds comes also from the PVR350. If you don't want to hook your speakers to the sound out of the PVR, then you have to connect the sound output of the PVR to the line in of your sound card. Don't forget to enable that input with your preferred mixer. |

tvboy have you actually tested this theory? do you have a pvr350 and just plugged the sound out from the pvr350 to the line in of your sound card with no additional configuration and it worked? |

Thx for all the replies, I have tried that as well and nothing no sound. Hooked up the two audio outputs using and audio cable to the in line of my sound card. Use the sound card out plugged in to the speakers no sound. What could I do next, maybe recompile IVTV with the latest? I am currently running knoppmyth version R4v4.1. Any other help will be greatly appreciated, Thx, pibeleo |

Try following mike's instructions (to get a new msp3400.o) in: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1634 His instructions are in the third or fourth reply. Note that the sound will come from the 350, and not your soundcard. |

Thx for the reply. I tried that and still no sound. How can I test to see if there is any sound coming from AV outputs from the WINTV 350 Card. What setup is working from other people using the WINTV 350 output video and audio outputs. Any help will be appreciated. I am close to having a completely working system. I am new at linux so any commands I can use to check anything will be helpful. Thx, Pibeleo. |

Xsecrets: Yes I tried it and it works. You just need to make sure that the mixer has the line in open. Currently I run audio directly to the TV, because the SCART cable has no audio out. I will need to make/buy a box that feeds the audio out, so that I can connect that back to sound card. |

Pibeleo: a) are you using TV out via the PVR350? (= TV hooked to the PVR350) b) which cable are you using, Scart, composite, video and audio separate (yellow, red+white cinch connector) c) do you get sound when you connect the TV completely (incl sound) to the TV? When all above is OK, try to connect directly from the white+red cinch connectors to your speakers. |

Thx all for the replies, I found the problem. I did a test_ioctl -a and I notice mute was set to 1 so then I did test_ioctl -y mute=0 and it worked. Yes I have the audio coming from the 350 card to the line in of the soundcard. Great video from the 350 card, only problem now is that when I am and watching tv and I select the guide and move to see the schedule mythtv crashes but hey I can deal with that just not use it while watching tv. thx for all the replies, pibeleo |
