Post subject:  Trouble during install with XvMC and LIRC

I've been trying to install knoppmyth (latest R4V4.1) now for a few days without much luck.

Before I get into it, my specs are:
Pentium 4 3ghz
1GB RAM
2x 200GB SATA drives put into one Raid 0 array (which may or may not be recognised by knoppix/myth, i'm not sure).
nvidia geforce fx5200 128MB
Hauppage wintv350
Soundblaster audigy
onboard lan, two sony dvdr burners.

Throughout I've been using the installation guide at:
http://knoppmythwiki.homelinux.org/inde ... utoinstall

I first get into trouble at step #3 in that guide, where I have to select between i586 and i686. As I have a remote (supplied with the 350pvr) and want to use XvMC (due to the nvidia and pvr again) I select i586, select both of them, and hit ok. It spews through a whole bunch of errors which I can only assume mean it didn't install that.

Once I get past that, all goes well and I'm treated to the backend setup of mythtv - I'm fine to do everything in there.

On to step 6. When I try 'install-nvidia.sh' it loads okay, tells me it can't find a kernel, then builds one for me. No problems.

Step 7 is not so good. I type 'install-i586-lx' because of the XvMC and LIRC support I need, and it tells me that there is nothing to replace, and will not install. Stuck with nowhere to go after this stage.

Any help would be appreciated, i'm close to resigning to trying out the M$ alternative

=/

the raid won't work with the autoinstall. look at the manual install section of that guide.

Sounds like he has it installed and only needs help with XvMC. Right? Why ar eyou installing i586 binaries when the PIV is i686? As root:
Code:
dpkg -l | grep myth
You should see what is installed. If the i586 packages are installed, then
Code:
install-i686-lx
If you do get errors, then just don't say I got errors, what are the error.
