I have built the exact Atomic Ant that Cecil built found here http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=19476 but I am having two problems:

1. I can’t connect to the network or internet. I I have installed the R6 edition and configured it with a static ip address 192.168.0.88, gateway 192.168.0.1, dns 4.2.2.2. I can ping the gateway and dns server from all my other computers on my network so I know they are working correctly. I am not able to ping the mythtv Atomic Ant box (192.168.0.88).

Here is what I know so far:

hwdetect --show-net gives the following result: ppp_generic s1hc

/etc/resolv.conf shows the correct DNS settings

I have reviewed the /etc/rc.conf fine and changed it according to this site:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Con ... _Static_IP

The static Ip address appears to be okay.

Perhaps I do not have the correct driver installed. If that is the case how do I do it or even check what driver is installed already?

Problem 2 - Tuner Card http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hvr850.html, When I enter setup I do not see an option for this, how do I configure it?

Thanks in advance for any and all help

Did you try using the Service Menu to set the address? That should do all the work for you.

My system I put network settings in;
/etc/net/ifaces/eth0/ipv4address
192.168.254.8/24

/etc/net/ifaces/eth0/ipv4route
default via 192.168.254.1

/etc/net/ifaces/eth0/options
TYPE=eth
DISABLED=no
BOOTPROTO=static
ONBOOT=yes
CONFIG_WIRELESS=no

okay back to the basics, I have been using the same network cable on my other myth setup for at least 3 years and never had a problem. I was using that same cable to setup my new Atom system.

After not being able to connect to the internet I replaced the network cable and now I am connecting.

It's always the simple things that get you!

Hate it when that happens. I went through a whole process of replacing a HP slimline power supply when it ended up being a power cable somehow going bad spontaneously.

Glad you figured it out.
