Well, I'm running R6 now. Pretty much works without a hitch other than having to hand tweak my database backup.

Anybody know how to install things like vlc and avidemux in R6?

I got as var as there exists a pacman.conf file and a mirrorlist file. The mirrorlist file is not used as far as I can tell.

"pacman -Sy vlc" does not work in the default configuration.

Thanks, Todd.

Neither vlc or avidemux have been compiled for R6. Please open a feature request on flyspray if you'd like to see these packages.

Has anyone had any success using VLC on R6.X? I ask because I have a HD video that plays well on a VLC Windows Dual Core 1.6 Ghz, but does not play on my Mplayer 2.4 Ghz Dual Core mythbox. I actually like Mplayer, however, I was wondering if VLC is viable substitute. It would be ideal if VLC could be harnessed only for videos. I would like to use the existing setup to watch recorded TV (I'd like to retain commercial skipping capability).

The command to install VLC is here:

Code:
pacman -S vlc
