Installed LH 7.2 on hardware in signature. SSH login reveals:

Quote:
2012-08-27 22:04:26.510 Python Backend Connection: Couldn't connect to backend 127.0.0.1:6543
Couldn't connect to MythTV service for status

Also frequently see the popup:

"Could not connect to the mater backend server. Is it running? Is the IP address set for it in mythtv-setup correct?"

In the "Host Address Backed Setup" UI screen (ALT-S, => 1.Genereal), I changed the IP address field from 127.0.0.1 to the static leased IP = 192.168.8.106. Not seeing the message, however, I don't remember having this problem in LH6.2. Why would I see this in 7.2? What do I not know \ understand?

I am installing 7.3 today: after a fresh install this message is observed again:

Quote:
2013-01-20 15:45:50.591798 C [1999] Python Backend Connection Couldn't connect to backend [127.0.0.1]:6543
Couldn't connect to MythTV service for status

Also tried change the IP:

Quote:
Using username "user".
user@192.168.8.106's password:
2013-01-20 18:48:24.208186 C [2155] Python Backend Connection Couldn't connect to backend [mythtv.]:6543
Couldn't connect to MythTV service for status
[user@mythtv ~]$

Using username "user".
user@192.168.8.106's password:
2013-01-20 23:12:05.553973 C [16607] Python Backend Connection Couldn't connect to backend [192.168.8.106]:6543
Couldn't connect to MythTV service for status

I am hoping that someone will be able to point me in the right direction to understanding resolving this error message.

It looks like the myth backend isn't running. Have you checked the backend logs in /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log?

That message happens at login when the status script runs and can not connect to the master backend.
About the only time you should see that message is if the MBE is stopped, or right after a reboot. Because it's possible to login before the MBE starts, the status script fails and gives that error.

Same thing applies for the mythfrontend popup.

So if you see it right after a reboot, it's nothing to worry about.
However if you see it after the system has been running for a bit, then there is a problem.
