I recently updated to .16 via the debs, but I also recently installed k3b. Bad idea. I found some other posts that mention k3b has dependency problems and tried the suggested "reinstall specific myth module debs using --force-overwrite". Still no joy. I hesitate to reinstall the nvidia drivers since I had big problems doing that a while back.

Here's the output from launching the frontend and trying to select "play music" in the media library screen:

Code:
2004-11-21 00:16:08 mythfrontend version: 0.16.20040906-1 www.mythtv.org
2004-11-21 00:16:08 Enabled verbose msgs :all
2004-11-21 00:16:08 Registering Internal as a media playback plugin.
2004-11-21 00:16:08 Registering MythDVD DVD Media Handler as a media handler
2004-11-21 00:16:08 Registering MythDVD VCD Media Handler as a media handler
libGL.so.1: cannot handle TLS data
Unable to initialize plugin 'mythgallery'.
libGL.so.1: cannot handle TLS data
Unable to initialize plugin 'mythmusic'.

I went back into synaptic and did a "complete removal" of k3b and another kde lib package.

Is there some way to get the correct libGL's back?

Any other thoughts on what to try?

Thanks,
Dan

I worked up the nerve to try installing the lastest nvidia drivers (following instructions from other posts), and that seems to have fixed my opengl problems (mostly). During the install, I was warned the gcc version on my system (3.3) was newer than the one used to build the kernel. I ignored the stern warning (as that was the only way to proceed with the install). Now MythMusic and Gallery are back.

Myth Music sometimes crashes the frontend when I move to different songs. I'm guessing this is when it switches to a different opengl visualization. Some of the visualizations now only show a "?". Maybe my gcc version issue (mentioned above) relates to this?

In summary, the 6629 nvidia drivers are working nicely for me.

Now I have to search the forum for a MythNews issue (I seem to be missing libmythnews...)
