Post subject:  LSPCI Indicates "Unknown Device"

Hello everyone.

I'm a myth newbie. Just got my box up and running this past week. (See my signature for hardware details). Everything appears to be working but I notice that when I do an lspci my graphics card and the two PVR 250's installed in my unit come back as "Unknown Device".

This appears to have no bearing on how the box runs as far as I can tell. But on my first install I somehow got those listings in lspci to show the correct device info. I reinstalled because sound was not working properly and after a reinstall, sound works but lspci now reports the pvr's and GeForce MX 4000 as "unknown device".

Again, everything appears to work (haven't tested the second tuner or uptime capability but I will tonight). I'm just afraid that the stability and/or performance of the system could be better if the kernel correctly identified the components of the system. Has anybody run across this? And if so how did you fix it?

Besides the hardware in my signature I have compiled and installed the nVidia 1.0-6629 drivers and compiled and installed ivtv 2.0RC3 drivers figuring that would get the devices correctly identified. Otherwise it's a vanilla R4V5 install with i686 packages.

My mobo has onboard sound and network and both of those devices are correctly identified in lspci. All other mobo devices not needed are disabled in BIOS. Only mouse/keyboard (ps/2) IDE 1 & 2 are activated.

Thanks in advance for any insight!
