Post subject: | could not connect to socket |
I have the pvr-350 card and reinstalled knoppmyth R5A10 many times but I can't get past this not connecting to socket problem. I have the IP address for localhost set to 127.0.0.1. There was no instruction on how to set the Master Server IP address on a machine that has both the frontend and backend on it. So currently I set it to 127.0.0.1. Not sure if this is correct. What the heck does the default ::1 mean? I am also trying to get the LIRC function to work. I thought it was compiled in already for the grey remote. It looks like it is insalled but the remote doesn't work. All the config files look ok to me. I think there is something simple I am missing here. How do I know if the database has been filled? |

Quote: I have the IP address for localhost set to 127.0.0.1. thats fine.. but i prefer to hardset my IP address and put it in both spots.. including master backend spot (assuming they front and backend are on the same box) Quote: I am also trying to get the LIRC function to work. is Lirc running.. I dont have the info for A10 anymore. but i remember you had to set it up to run manually(create a bootmish.sh to run on boot-time). also make sure your ivtv modules load in /etc/modules Quote: How do I know if the database has been filled?
if under mythtv-setup Channel editor you have channels displayed (not a empty screen) then there is at least some data filled from mythfilldatabase. You could rerun it and see if any errors occure |

OK, I set both IP's to 127.0.0.1 but still getting Connection refused after doing the mythtv-setup. Man is this frustrating. I did have the channel information populated so I assume that is OK. The ivtv is definitely loading and is in /etc/modules but LIRC doesn't work. I can't find bootmish.sh did you mean bootmisc.sh? What is supposed to go in there? |

Just to add more info, I get the exact same error "Connection refused" when trying to run irw or irexec. When I see the word connection I think network. Same with the word socket but I don't know how this is supposed to be set up. Anybody have an idea what could possibly be the problem? Searching the forums is not turning up anything usefull on this point. |

The error messages are related to LIRC. |

Ok, I believe you are correct. So where else do I look for an answer on solving this LIRC connection problem? I have been reading posts for days and no one seems to have hit on my particular problem. |

I do believe you "understood" the process in another thread. Sorry, if my words aren't clear. I'm succinct by nature and don't know how to make it any clearer. |

I believe irw connects to the lircd daemon via socket. Is the lircd daemon running? Do you have any error messages in /var/log/messages related to lircd? Try typing Code: ps -ef | grep lirc (before and after running irw)
