Just a quick note of success installing A12. I dropped it on a box with a Dlink G520 802.11g card. The madwifi drivers fired up immediately and recognized the card. I then pulled down the wpa_supplicant package, followed the basic instructions on the madwifi website to get wpa working, recompiled and installed wpa_supplicant and had the network up and running in a few minutes with wpa support.

Excellent work!

Hi --

did you have to download the madawifi drivers or were they part of R5A12? Are you satistfied with the throughput?

madwifi drivers were in a12, accidently left out of a15 and will be back in a later release. Throughput is reasonably good, I'm getting ~ 3MBytes/sec or more with WPA on...

what version of the card was that? I have a standard 802.11b version of that card and even using ndiswrapper I can't get it to work. (everything looks fine, it associates and gets an IP but I can't "route" to it and after a reboot all my settings for wlan0 are lost).

It is a DLink DWL-G520 802.11g card.

Interestingly enough, I had the unit running with ndiswrapper, but it was very unstable. I had initially tried madwifi (some time ago), gave up, switched to ndiswrapper running under FC2 and then switched back to madwifi under R5A15. madwifi has been significantly more stable than ndiswrapper ever was...

YMMV

Does that have various rev's? and if so which is it? Since it works with madwifi I'll see about getting one of them. My 520 is rev. D and has no Linux support only ndiswrapper.

Then again it might be easier just to get a wireless bridge and forgo the linux wifi issue altogether.
