I just started trying to install the latest version of knoppmyth for the first time and am having trouble. It keeps hanging on the "Looking for CDROM in:"... etc. I've read that starting with the nodma option fixes it but I am having no luck. I also tried noscsi. On a side note, everything says to type "knoppix blah", yet i get an error "vmlinuz blah" works though. Dunno if that has anything to do with it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. skyhigh |

Should be: knoppmyth alsa nodma [whatever else] You should post a desciption of your hardware, especially your motherboard chipset. |

Sorry I didn't post better details. I have an ASUS P4P800-e delux motherboard and an PVR-250. I finally got that working, I had to do "knoppmyth atapicd" and it started fine. After about 24 hours I have finally got the system to function as a PVR. Obviously there is still some tweaking to do. One problem I am having is that I keep getting an error: irq 18: nobody cared! ... bunch of stuff ... Disabling IRQ #18 It has done this since I started trying to install. It doesn't seem to prevent anything from working, but sometimes it makes things stop for a couple of seconds. skyhigh |

Well, I'm new to KnoppMyth myself, but I'll have a go. IRQ 18 sounds like KnoppMyth is having some kind of trouble with IRQ 18. Since IRQ 18 would only be available if you have APIC enabled, perhaps you will need to reinstall with the "noapic" switch. I could be wrong, of course.
