I'm about to reinstall KnoppMyth ver. R5A15. My first install went well but my new silver Hauppauge A415-HPG remote would not work. I've read many posts now but none would solve my problem. I think that I've hosed things by now so I'll try another install but I have a few questions. On my first install, LIRC didn't seemed to be installed. Is that by default and will a manual KnoppMyth install make this happen? Could someone point me to a post or doc that will list the steps needed to install LIRC for KM ver R5A15 and my new PVR-250 remote? I'm confident that the remote works, irw would output info on the screen when I had Myth installed on Fedora (irBlaster woes there). I noticed that certain files were not ever present like modprobe.d/lirc and a few others. I did run the lirc-reconfig.sh but it didn't help either. Would installing a different release make things easier for me? Tnx, bd |

well lirc is always installed with knoppmyth, it is just not set to run on boot. you need to run update-rc.d lirc defaults then you will need to get the right lircd.conf and lircrc files for the silver remotes. there are numerous postings about that here and on the wiki. |
