A few days ago I downloaded the R5A15 version and installed it this past Sat. night. I'm using a PVR-250 with the new remote (it has the 4 colored buttons at the bottom). After installing R5A15 I noticed that the nvidia driver and LIRC had not been installed automatically (which is the type of installation I used).
After installing them both, my PVR-250 remote still wouldn't work. I found a thread here in the forums and used a posted lircd.conf and lircrc file. I placed them in the appropriate places but still no go. Before installing the standard LIRC, I followed the guide used to install a second instance of LIRC to control my DTV reciever. So I installed it before the standard version. I'm not sure if that caused a problem but I don't think it did.
Both instances appear to be running and when I try irw, no response. I know the remote works because I first installed Mythtv with Fedora but ran into numerous problems with LIRC and my irBlaster so I thought I'd give KnoppMyth a try. (I could kick myself for not using KnoppMyth first!)
What's my best course of action?
Sorry for the double post but I thought my question was more relevant here.

Had the same problem. The following works for me:
1) as root in a terminal window type 'modprobe lirc_i2c'
2) type lircd
3) restart frontend (can't remember if I had to start backend too)
4) try the remote. In my case it works without additional installing nvidia of LIRC
5) If it works edit the file /etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh: add line 'modprobe lirc_i2c'
and line '/etc/sbin/lircd'.
6) In my case the remote works fine.
I have no idea about IR blaster....maybe others can help

I had the same problem when I upgraded too. For some reason the "Built-in" lircd wasn't working for me. I followed the instructions in the mythtv docs to completely remove all traces of the lircd program and then to reinstall lircd manually. It started working right away after that.
As for your IRBlaster ,I use the Actisys200L, I have a good post and there are other posts to get this working. Get your remote working first so you know you have a good lircd to work with before you attempt the IRBlaster.

Thanks for the replies. I plan to take another stab at it today. I may do a reinstall and start from scratch. I quite easily could have screwed something up with all the testing I've done/
I'll post my solution to the problem if I ever find it.
