Ok... I've searched the forum - maybe someone can point me to the right article....

Upon installing 30.2, I skipped the configuration of LIRC. I am now wanting to re-configure LIRC - I have a working serial interface that is known to be good (checked on a windows machine ) ...

I have just about given up. I have removed and re-installed LIRC, but I am unable to get the device to be recognized:

- The serial port is recognized in bios - it has worked as a windows serial port 1 - standard configuration.
- The serial interface works
- mode 2 does not work - and trying to use irrecord just says - 'does not make any sense without recognised hardware....' or something like that.
Watching the start up of the machine I noticed that when LIRCD daemon tries to initiate, it says something like 'connection refused'.

Ok - so I'm a newbie to linux, and learning more and more each day - you pretty much have to be self taught...

I would appreciate your help with this one. I've found these forums to be helpful - I have asked some pretty simple questions before, but this one has me stumped.

Thank you in advance, and I hope that someone can point me in the right direction.

This doesn't belong in installation so Cecil will probably nuke this thread as soon as he sees it. As a result you get disposable answer #75.

1) Did you try running lirc-reconfig.sh?

2) Have you checked the error logs?

3) Have you checked the wiki?

BTW - Don't bother to respond here (except maybe an "Oops sorry Cecil, could you kill this?), this threads minutes are numbered. Start a new thread either under general or hardware.
