Post subject: | CDROM not recognized - Boot Floppy? |
Hi, (bye the way: i'am very very happy with MythTV .... ) I want to run a silent Frontend but the CDROM of the notebook is not recognized in the booting-phase. I tried a usual knoppix boot-floppy but it does not work because of wrong filenames (?). Has someone an image to boot? Or any other clue? Thx so far! Michael |

does the laptop have pxe booting? if so you can setup terminal service on the backend and network boot. |

Thx for fast replay. Unfortunately it is an external (PCMCIA) eth0 card ... :/ But nonetheless great to hear that the backend has this feature ![]() |

Check out the logs if you can and see what device it thinks is the cdrom or even if it detects it there..., normally it should be /dev/hdc (most of the time, but not always)... |

... unfortunately i'am not even able to get anything running that *logs*. The BIOS will not take any bootable CDROM, so I want the workaround with the Floppy-Disk :/ ... |

there is not workaround with a floppy. Not that it can't be done, but noone that I know of has done it, as none of the developers have that I know of installed on a machine that couldn't boot from cdrom or network. |

What kind of laptop (make/model)? Is there a bios option to change the boot-order to have it look to the cd-rom first? -brendan |
