Im new to knoppmyth but have alittle exp with redhat. I can get to the configuration screen but need to install an nvidia driver. Was wondering if this version of linux has a gui for the file system, editor and browser? If any of these do exist plz let me know the name of the app and how to find it? Thanks ![]() |

Run 'apt-get update', followed by 'apt-get install <appname>', e.g. 'apt-get install firefox'. 'apt-cache search <string>' searches all the apps for <string>, so may help you find applications. With any luck, from your Red Hat efforts, you already know what editor and file browser you're comfortable with. Otherwise, if nano or vi don't cut it for you as editors, I believe people find nedit to be a simple, mouse-user friendly editor with a shallow learning curve (apt-get install nedit). Not sure what graphical file browser is good, as I have no use for them. I wouldn't advocate learning it just for MythTv, but Emacs/XEmacs is a great editor and file browser (and kitchen sink), but with a very steep learning curve (apt-get install xemacs21). Once you become fully assimilated into the world of Emacs, nothing else will do. |
